Huntsville Chess Club Membership,
We need to hear from you!
We are strongly considering a move to a more Huntsville-centralized location. More specifically, the 2nd floor of the Huntsville Public Library (main branch) from 5pm-TBD (the library closes at 9pm).
Please vote using the poll below to let us know what you think. Also, if you have opinions on the day/time/etc., please leave a comment using the form below. We always like to hear feedback from our membership, especially if it goes against what we are thinking your opinion is!
Today, we’ll be at Sunny Street until about 5:30pm and then most likely going to the library to try out that space if nobody shows. As always, feel free to email huntsvillechessclub@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
The Huntsville Chess Club
It’s not about the location more so than the day. Consider to also moving day to later on in the week Thursday or Friday
We actually have, but don’t want to step on the toes of anyone hosting in that location.
Maybe we’ll try Thursday at the library. Thank you for your feedback. It’s great to hear from you!
One of the things I like about HCC is the fact that you have chess “meetings” at several sites during the week. I haven’t been in a while. But I AM putting my chess cap back on and trying to kick-start my brain in that direction. (My old Chess Mentor” training software isn’t as kind to me as in the old days.) My work location is within one mile of Sunny Street. Day isn’t important. The library would be on my way home; So that is a good option as well. Long and short, I’m coming back no matter where /when you are! I vote have both sites!
FYI, I went through this somewhat in Birmingham years ago. Centralized club got wider range of participants, but less than local area club(s). You move your club you lose some and you gain some. Not everyone will be happy about any decision you make. I wish you well.
Thanks Dale, hope to see you at the library sometime! Don’t think you’ve got to be firing on all cylinders to prescribe with us. We are all perpetually more rusty then we’d like to be.
