Online Chess Tonight and for future Mondays AND Fridays while we’re still stuck at home from 5pm – 8pm
As a reminder, we will not be meeting at the library or Brahan Springs Rec Center until we’ve been given the all-clear. Please let anyone know who may not be technically savvy enough to have email access.
References: The Nashville Chess Center just sent something like this out and saved us some typing. The following is heavily plagiarized from their email blast. I don’t think they’d mind.
We hope everyone is having a good time inside! Could there be anything better to do than strengthen your chess during the COVID-19 quarantine? Obviously, we hope everyone is safe and healthy and this all passes and we can be back at the board face-to-face before long, but in the meantime, we will be utilizing Chess.com to keep our chess community together continuing to grow and improving.
Here is a “HOW TO?” on joining the community. Please do that first and we will be releasing a schedule of events soon!
STEP 1: Make a Chess.com account – it is free! MAKE A CHESS.COM ACCOUNT FOR FREE!
STEP 2: LOGIN!
STEP 3: Go to the Menu bar that is on the left hand side of the browser – CLICK ON “CONNECT” (It looks like little, white message bubbles)
STEP 4: When you drag the cursor over the “CONNECT” menu – it will bring us a sub-menu that says “CLUBS” (It has two little emoji guys)
STEP 5: Type in “Huntsville Chess Club” and request to be added to the group. I have made the group private now and will be cleaning it up to ensure we do not get any inappropriate ads or folks on the page.
STEP 6: On that same, original menu bar – Go to “LIVE CHESS” and mess around with and become acquainted with the site. It is not that hard.
FINAL STEP: BE SAFE AND HAVE FUN! SEE YOU ONLINE! If you can get a group together to play a Chess.com tourney or team match, please do!
My username on chess.com is patrickc3000. Please contact me there with any questions/suggestions or email us at huntsvillechessclub@gmail.com.
