Huntsville Chess Club,

We asked for your opinion, and you came through!  The membership has overwhelmingly indicated that they would be more likely to attend Monday night meetings at the Huntsville Public Library, so the HCC is moving back to Huntsville.  We’ve definitely appreciated our time at the Sunny Street Café and hope that we’ll still be able to host tournaments there periodically.  The atmosphere and the hospitality shown to our club from the ownership is second to none.

We’ll be playing chess from 5pm – 8pm on the 2nd floor of the library’s “Main” branch (915 Monroe St. SW, Huntsville, AL 35801).  From there, look either to tables out in the open, or in one of the conference rooms near the Information Desk.

We hope you’ll stop by for a game or two!

We are strongly considering a move to a more Huntsville-centralized location.  More specifically, the 2nd floor of the Huntsville Public Library (main branch) from 5pm-TBD (the library closes at 9pm).

Please vote using the poll below to let us know what you think.  Also, if you have opinions on the day/time/etc., please leave a comment using the form below.  We always like to hear feedback from our membership, especially if it goes against what we are thinking your opinion is!

Today, we’ll be at Sunny Street until about 5:30pm and then most likely going to the library to try out that space if nobody shows.  As always, feel free to email huntsvillechessclub@gmail.com with any questions you may have.

There will be no chess next week at the Sunny Street Cafe, nor Monday (Memorial Day).  There will still be chess Fridays (both weeks) at the Brahan Springs Rec center and Tuesdays at Straight to Ale.

Apologies for the late newsletter.  We’ll be playing casual chess the next two meetings before getting back to our Blitz and Quick rated tournament schedule.  Come on out for a game!
