It all comes down to Round 5 in the City Championship, and it looks like the winner could be any of the participants on board 1 or 2! Tune in Friday to catch our live games broadcast of both of the top boards.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to broadcast round 4 of the city championship, but we’ll broadcast the championship round 5 next week!
Hello everyone! HCC has opened a new discord server to help facilitate communication for all the club members. Discord is a great place to network with other club members and will provide another platform to communicate club information. You can post puzzles, discuss games, and network with other chess enthusiasts! Feel free to share the link with other chess players.
Click here to check it out!
For rounds 3, 4, and 5, we plan to offer live commentary from our members, in conjunction with our weekly Zoom meetings that Willie has been leading. Please tune in and join in on the discussion of the games on the top 2 boards!
The games will start Friday at 5pm – Details below.

This week marks the first weekly meeting of the HCC at our new location (Brahan Spring Recreation Center). Friday will also be the first round of the Huntsville City Championship.
As a reminder, registration for the tournament will close today (11/01). Register now! 1 half-point bye is available, but 0 point byes will be available beyond that. If you’re having any issues with the electronic payment method, online registration, or have any questions at all, please email us and we will help you work through it or work something out.
As a convenience, we’ve included the registration form at the bottom of this blog post.
“The best laid plans of mice and men…” – Robert Burns
As often happens in life, plans made are rarely plans executed. We were just made aware through a Facebook post that today is the last day that Mario’s will be open for an indeterminate amount of time. Consequently, and effective immediately, we’ll be moving our primary meeting location to Brahan Spring Recreation Center on Fridays from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.
We thank Mario’s for hosting us while they could and wish them a speedy return to service!
*Please note that the next 5 meetings will be centered around the Huntsville City Championship. There may be room for casual chess for those who aren’t participating (and definitely before the round starts), but we’ll need to ensure that the playing room remains silent for those competing.*
