We approach the holiday season and new year with hopes that the next will be better than the last. We’re really hoping that over the board chess will return by the Spring/Summer of 2021!
In spite of our lack of physical meetings, we’ve still managed to grow our membership base, so we thought it would be a good thing to reach out to everyone to remind them about the weekly Friday Zoom meetings run by Willie Sandifer at 5:30PM.
Currently, this is the only meeting that is being conducted by the HCC to keep things going, so a big thank you goes out to Willie for this! He’s been there weekly, since the beginning of the pandemic – like a rock!
The meetings are fun and there is usually something discussed for every skill level, so we hope you’ll join us there. The details are below:
Zoom Meeting ID: 823 3836 3987
Password: 028824
If you have any trouble connecting, please email huntsvillechessclub@gmail.com and we’ll get it worked out.
Lastly, we’re considering a Huntsville Chess Club online tournament after the start of the new year (time control to be determined). Please vote below if you’d like to participate.
Keep working on your chess, in whatever format best suits you. It will be exciting to see how much everyone’s game has changed throughout this period of isolation!
I like your “What is chess?” page. The TV movie series Queen’s Gambit attributed the following quote to Thomas Huxley: “The chessboard is the world, the pieces are the phenomena of the Universe, the rules of the game are what we call the laws of Nature, and the player on the other side is hidden from us. “
Glad you appreciate our content, Tom!
